This course is lead by BCS cadre Jake S. who is a Master Classified shooter in USPSA Carry Optics Division

Details:   Performance handgun was developed as the next progression after Handgun Technique and Practical Handgun. Performance handgun will push students in terms of speed and accuracy and you will see that both are equally important in this course. Whether you are a Civilian, LE or Military this course will give you the tools to become faster and more accurate.

Start Time: 9 a.m.

Length: 6 hrs

Range FEE: $20 Due the day of course

Student Requirements: Must be able to understand and apply proper firearms safety, possess Handgun Permit.

Prerequisites: MUST HAVE TAKEN HANDGUN TECHNIQUE OR EQUIVALENT COURSE FROM REPUTABLE INSTRUCTOR. THIS IS NOT A BEGINNERS COURSE.

We will focus on:

  • Firearms and Range Safety

  •  Dryfire

  • Fundamentals: 

  • Vision, Grip, Sights, Trigger 

  • Draw Stroke

  • Sight picture/ Sight confirmation levels

  • 3 pillars of shooting: 

  • Speed, Accuracy, Movement 

  • Control vs Attack targets

  • Target transitions 

  • Entries/ Exits 

  • Mental aspect of shooting 

Gear list: Pistol, Rigid holster that retains handgun while moving and maintains shape when empty (outside the waistband, NO SERPA OR LEATHER HOLSTERS), stiff pistol belt, 3 magazines (4 if you have 10 round magazines), magazine holders/pouches, eye protection, ear protection. 1000 rounds of ammunition

Recommended Gear: Shot timer

Additional equipment should be considered taking into account the season, weather, and personal necessities.  Dress appropriately, stay hydrated, and ensure staff is aware of any medical considerations that may impact training.  Consumption of food and drink is continuous short of impacting the training cycle.  In addition, bring a meal as there will be a 45 minute “working lunch”.
